Michele: AI building consiousness.
Ruha: Whose existence/voices are being prioritised? Which lives matter?
Also in the Netherlands, recently students, people with lower incomes were surveilled.
Oumaima: Who has the luxery to phylosephy about robots high risks, when your current position is in danger. What ethical frameworks do we consider, and which ones not? Tech is used to opress certain groups, if you give people voices, do they have the power to use it?
Michele: limited bias, what's the use for bias, by the community and for the community.
Simona: Ursula van der Leyen states that there will be an AI act, but it takes more time. Adressing impact, human rights and environmental issues. All the member states have to agree. There also have to come rules for AI at work.
Michele: democratising AI production, regulation is important, but also who is going to monitor it.
Simone: be aware not repoducing old systems.
Questions from the public:How do you ensure that the policy is fair?
Ruha: There will always be bias, but dont' stop before we start! There is a LOT we can do!
How much influcene the corporate lobby has on the AI act?
Simona: Influence is big. There is a transarancy registar, but it doesn't work well... That has to change of course!
Big tech lobbying is bigger than any sort of lobbying. 1 billion of lobbying each year.
Microsoft and Google are very much involved.
Can we trust the outcome of the AI act? That's a responsibilituy of the AI lawyers, to ensure the public interest is covered well!
How do we create altenative standards?
Michele: braad labor, regulation about how capital is accumulated.
Bureaucracy of evil, eploitation of animals, it's a bigger fight
Ruha: Principal of interdependance, interconnective projects, we have to consider the ecological implications as well.
What can we do?
Oumaima: Be aware and consious about the tech you're using, think twice before using certain technologsies. And there is a lot of whiteness. Be aware of the images you use.
