Anne Helmond

Anne Helmond is an Associate Professor of Media, Data & Society at Utrecht University, co-leading the ‘Governing the Digital Society’ research focus area. In her research she examines the processes of platformisation, algorithmisation, and datafication. She develops methods to study the politics, power, and governance of platforms, and investigates how apps and app stores act as powerful mediators of our culture and society.
