Clarice Gargard

Journalist | Programme Maker | Writer | Film Maker

Clarice Gargard is an award-winning journalist, programme maker, writer and filmmaker who combines art, social criticism and journalism. She is co-founder of Lilith Magazine and Lilith Agency and has worked for NRC, BNNVARA, Vogue and Harpers Bazaar, among others. Her documentary Daddy and the Warlord won a Golden Calf for Best Short Documentary in 2019, and she also won the Black Achievement Award in the People and Society category. Her book Dragon's Daughter is now available at bookstores. In her latest documentary, Clarice speaks to everyday resistance fighters in the Netherlands, Suriname and CuraƧao about the past, present and future of black resistance. With her broad background as a journalist, filmmaker, writer and activist, Clarice is the ideal moderator for important discussions, where we will focus on building an internet that works for all.
