Wido Potters works at BIT, one of the Dutch cloud providers. On behalf of BIT, Wido's responsibilities include digital sovereignty. Limiting dependence on third parties is an important pillar of BIT's services.
BIT participates in the European Commission's initiative to develop and strengthen European cloud autonomy, IPCEI CIS. With AMS-IX, i3D.net, Info Support and TNO, BIT is working on the IPCEI CIS sub-project European Cloud services in an Open FEDerated ecosystem (ECOFED). ECOFED aspires to realise the technical foundation to enable migration between clouds and cloud federation. This will increase choice for cloud users and reduce dependence on (U.S.) hyperscalers.
