Knitting our Internet

Workshop - Knit the internet of the future

June 06 14:00 - 14:55 @
Fablab

Language: Dutch.

Knitting Our Internet is an interactive journey through the history of the internet, and a collective rethinking of its future.

Artistic researcher Tommi Marmo provides tangible and simple examples about how the internet works, while questioning the very essence of today’s mainstream social networks. During this workshop, you will explore the critical limits of surveillance capitalism, centralization, and its environmental impact using yarn. Through large scale weaving and knitting with string you will see how different structures of the internet function, and how we could build it differently.

Tommi Marmo is an independent researcher, activist, artist, and community weaver who focuses on political technology, digital rights awareness, and data degrowth. His mission is to create bridges and connections, intertwining stories and experiences through inter-disciplinary activities.
