Kathalijne Buitenweg, Mieke van Heesewijk and Marleen Stikker concluded the following at the end of the conference.
There are two parts to the story:
- Big tech power shrinking
More money needs to go to the personal data authority
A solid digital services act should be drafted and enforced in Europe.
Schools should be given enough money to build a proper digital infrastructure without depending on Google Chromebooks or other Big Tech services or tools.
Data portability act becomes important
- Structurally build an internet the way we want it. With public organisations, daring to make that transition, taking a step towards something we believe in. That requires investments, collaborations and we need to turn our imagination back on. Even in new technology, we need to guarantee our public values again. Use the PublicSpaces coalition to shape the future!
