Digital Autonomy is a topic that has been discussed for some time, but since 20 January 2025 it has truly gone mainstream. "We" — meaning the Netherlands and Europe — need to get to work on Digital Autonomy. The question of "why" may now be considered well established, but what does Digital Autonomy actually mean in practice for you and your organisation, and what can you do right now to become more digitally independent?
In this interactive session we approach Digital Autonomy through the metaphor of an energy label: a poorly insulated house with sky-high energy costs sits at G, while a well-insulated house sits at A. Some houses are so well insulated that they even generate energy — those are the A++++ homes.
Using this metaphor, we explore what you can do to make yourself and your organisation more digitally independent. A short presentation highlighting various available initiatives is followed by an open conversation with all participants. The central question: what steps are needed to move from no autonomy to full autonomy, and is it actually possible to become completely digitally autonomous?
