Public Values in Immersive Realities

Workshop - Navigating the intersection of technology and public values in immersive realities

June 07 11:05 - 12:00 @
Expo

Language: English.

Virtual worlds are emerging as a next frontier, capturing the attention of developers everywhere. With avatars and head-mounted displays, VR, XR, and AR offer new horizons where traditional borders dissolve.  What do these innovations mean for public values? Predominantly driven by market companies, there's a pressing need to examine this closely.

Immersive content will receive a huge impulse in the Netherlands by means of a new project named Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition (CIIIIC), which will receive 200 million euro from the Dutch National Growth Fund. Waag Futurelab, PublicSpaces, and Rathenau Instituut are fostering the discussion of public values in relation to immersive content, in collaboration with CIIIC and the Ministry of OCW.

In a one-hour World Café experience, we will explore key issues: security, openness, diversity and inclusion, standards, governance, and sustainability. The session will be moderated by Dymphie Braun and will feature insights from experts including Melchior Kanyemesha, Sander Veenhof, Rasa Bocyte, Mariëtte van Huijstee, and Sander van der Waal.

Join us as we navigate the intersection of technology and public values in immersive realities!
