Video message from State-secretary Digital Affairs Alexandra van Huffelen: PS contructive and positive mindset; write the story of our online future together. Internet that is realy ours, open source.
Democratic Digital Infrastructure: what are your wants and needs?
Sophie Bloemen: Time to invest and cocreate. Broad coalition for investing in public spaces, it's resonation. We need also public infratsucture online, just as we need it in the physical world. This effort needs to happen on different levels (internation, national, regiomal, local). Invest in regenerative economy, initiativs that create public value (and doesn't extracts value), ecolgogical transition. Digital and ecological transition have to go hand in hand.
Michiel Leenaars: Most things are running in the cloud, why don't we accept some devices as a need? Why don't we tax datahording? Why don't we seperate the tracking from the non-tracking? We need to renovate the copyright.
Olivia Vereha: Building open source; we failed in our promise. Crises are no langer as they used to be; we need devices to help to monitor the state of democracy. How do we organise the funding for digital transformation of governments? We need standards and regulations. Building and bringing together the proper tech that should be used in the public space.
Sébastien Shulz: view on 2040, coopeartive and open internet, reducing ecological damage. Industrial policy: we need engineers to develop the infrastructure, and we need investors.
Were do you start with the digital infrastructue? Michiel: Let's concentrate on building a core infrastructure based on basic needs. We need a good digital financial infrastructure as well.
Sophie: Education is very important; what are the educational tools, who designed them? There was not a public alternative. In A'dam there is a lot of resistance againt dark stores and kitchens: bad working conditions etc. We can do it in a different way.
Sebastien: Governance of people engaging it.
Michiel: Think about the 'hygiene' of the commons
Questions:Scale and the role of the government: Property: let the property to the citizens, same with digital property. Investing in an ecosystem.
